Guide · Combining style references

Combining sref codes with weights.

Midjourney accepts more than one style reference in a prompt. List the codes after --sref, weight each with ::, and set the overall strength with --sw. The result is a blend that none of the codes gives on its own, which is how most of the remixes on SREF.ai were made.

The syntax

a quiet harbour at dawn --sref 627426282::2 163023829 --sw 300

Choosing a pair

Styles that share a medium (two paintings, two photographs) and sit in the same colour family blend predictably. Styles with opposite moods, say minimal and surreal, give stranger and less repeatable results, which can be the point. Every SREF.ai style page lists the styles it combines well with, scored by shared mood, medium and palette, and the Remix tool builds the weighted command for any pair with a slider for the blend.

Reading a remix recipe

SREF.ai remixes record the exact recipe that produced the preview, for example --sref 627426282::1 163023829::1 729047527::1, together with the full prompt, the seed and the model version. Copy the recipe as it is to reproduce the look, or change one weight to steer it.

Questions

How many codes can I combine?
Several; most useful blends use two or three. Past that, the influences average out and the result drifts towards a generic look.
Can an agent build these commands?
Yes. The SREF.ai MCP server and API expose build_sref_command, which validates codes, weights and --sw. See SREF.ai for agents.
